Oh yay I love this piece! I’m a solid ambivert- so maybe a unique style since I’m foot in both worlds? Haha neither one thing or another- story of my life!

That's interesting, Jackie! Since we should be incorporating content elements that appeal to both introverts and extroverts (in almost all cases), that should also appeal to ambiverts, I would think. It's good that we are thinking about this, though. Thanks for your thoughts!

Yeah I like to highlight it in these discussions, as it’s a position that’s sometimes overlooked. Some of us switch, and don’t fit neat baskets. Occupying that middle zone is confusing because when in one mode, you’re easily mistaken for that- people who meet me at conferences, for example, often get the extrovert me with the crazy hair and costumes and massive energy, and go-with-the flow-ness. What they don’t know is that much of my life is boring introversion, that I’m intense, driven, regimented and introverted when I do my work- and it’s startling when I change hats. Part of this is neurodivergence, of course. But don’t mistake me for a real extrovert lol and seeing me introvert wallflower mode, likewise, nobody would believe I could be the other person! Jekyll & Hyde, much?

Really interesting topic and suggestions, Mack. I am an ambivert so I like articles that have summarised sections plus deeper dives. Thanks for hosting, Frey.

Hi Lisa! Do you like a summary or bullet points? Do you like it to come before the article, or at the end?

I loved that you wrote this article, Mack.

I remembered us chatting about this briefly.

I would bet the majority of my audience are, in fact, thoughtful introverts.

I’m definitely on the introvert side (give me a deep dive any day), but I know a lot of people just wanna skim and bounce. That's why I publish a short article on Thursdays.

Also, love the idea of writing for yourself as well as your readers. If you don’t enjoy it, what’s the point, right?

Thank you Frey and Mack :)

I do remember that, my INTJ sister :). I also remember when we discussed how those ‘silly’ Notes about what’s your favorite movie or band or if pizza should have pineapple or not tend to get a lot of engagement. I think that type of content more appeals to extroverts that want to skim and jump in the engagement pool for a quick dip, then move on. It’s giving me a lot to think about! Thank you, as always!

You are right because that note got some interesting feedback lol

But I knew.

No problem, bro.

I take the whole introvert/extrovert thing very seriously and I appreciate the info you've shared on how this needs to be reflected in my content. So far I think my Posts reflect my introvert self and my Notes are a bit more extroverted. Don't claim to be ambivert, just an introvert who learned how to play the game. Thanks to both of you for modeling the collaboration aspect of Substack so well. Look forward to reading your guide❣️

Thank you! This idea of writing for introverts vs extroverts has been on my mind the last few weeks. The more I thought about it, the more I realized this is a very underserved topic that deserves more attention. Will be writing a follow up post on this at Backstage Pass on Thursday. Thanks for your thoughts and your comments about how you view articles as more appealing to your introverted side and Notes more your extroverted side totally resonates with me!
